The Paralympic Games 2012
Here at Amber Support Services we are keeping the momentum of London 2012 going and having held our first Amber Olympic Games we invested in further equipment and are holding regular weekly sports sessions.
We are very much looking forward to the Paralympics Games where once again the eyes of the world will be on London. We will be looking out for Richard White, Bromsgrove's local Paralympian, who inspired us at our Olympic Games with his talk on how he came to win two Bronze medals at the Sydney Paralympics in Sydney. Richard will be one of the torchbearers taking part in the 24 hour relay which starts from Stoke Mandeville and goes to the Olympic Stadium where the flame will light the cauldron at the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games.
London 2012 Paralympic Opening Ceremony
Award-winning film director Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot) heads the team behind the ceremony, which has a cast of over 3,000 volunteers, rehabilitating soldiers, children and professionals. Called "Enlightenment", the programme will celebrate the inclusivity of the Paralympics, including a fly past by "Aerobility" and incredible acobatic performances on a 35 metre high rig above the stadium floor. During the opening ceremonies Athletes' Parade over 4000 athletes from 162 nations will have their moment of glory and give everyone the opportunity to cheer on their country's entrants as they take a lap on the Olympic Stadium's track proudly holding their national flag
We will be cheering them on so put the date in your diary - Wednesday 29th August 2012, a moment in history.
