Bat Box Success
Market Garden joins the fight to keep our local bats safe!
Amber Market Garden, is a Community Enterprise project set up to provide meaningful work experience for adults with learning disabilities.
They were recently approached by the Worcestershire Bat Group and given the opportunity to design and make bat boxes for them. After delivering their first order the Bat Group were so impressed they placed a further order for more boxes. Not only that, but with the next batch that they are going to deliver, they will be given the opportunity to put the boxes up in the local forest and also learn more about the bats who will be making the boxes their home.
Amber Market Garden is located at The Granary Hotel, in Shenstone and the aim of the scheme is to work closely and cooperate with local organisations to help preserve our local wildlife, this will form part of a number of different projects that they intend to get involved with over the next year.
“I liked making the Bat Boxes, it means I know they are safe now” stated one of the people who attend the scheme. The wood used was kindly donated to the project by a local company meaning from start to finish this was a community coming together for a good cause. . A massive thank you goes to Leon Hopkins for cutting and donating all the wood for the bat boxes. We have had great fun making them and even more fun painting!
So when you’re out and about keep an eye out for our flying friends and their new homes.
