Amber Community Enterprise
Amber Support has, and always will, be looking for local opportunities to make a valued contribution towards our community which includes the inclusion of people with learning disabilities; supporting people to live independently in their own homes, gaining paid and voluntary jobs in local shops, hairdressers, hotels, libraries and cafes, supporting people with complex needs in a day service setting and offering flexible outreach community respite, to name a few.
Now in our 10th year we are proud to be launching Amber Community Enterprise. This Social Enterprise set up as a Community Interest Company, centralises our activities with all funds raised going back into the projects to ultimately create economically sustainable activities. We believe its about employability and empowerment and includes activities such as:
· Amber Market Garden
Not only a project which provides horticultural and urban gardening knowledge – it also produces ecological products such as Bat Boxes which are sold to local organisations thereby looking after the local environment, working with other groups and supporting the green agenda
· Amber Active Sports Club
An initiative promoting fitness and social inclusion by encouraging local people to attend a sports and fitness club – it has already won an award in its first year because of its varied sports offering with the fundamental difference that people who attend are in control and decide on the sports activities of the club itself
· Rock and Roll Café
In preparation for future plans to expand into café premises, those who attend are learning all the fundamentals of running a café from health and safety to menu planning and making a profit
· Amber Workshop
An arts and crafts project producing handmade items of the highest quality which are sold at local carnivals, Eco Days and winter markets. With a range of handmade items from upcycled furniture to Weather Worms and Happiness Bags – we think there is something for everyone!
