SOCIAL INCLUSION AND EMPLOYMENT
OUTREACH SUCCESS STORY
Amber Support has always offered creative, flexible and shared support and now more than ever with the growing number of people with individual budgets we have been able to increase our commitment to social inclusion and employment.
Lee, with the support of our Outreach Team and his family, explored options to achieve the success he is enjoying today where he is involved in the day to day running of his local pub and in his local community.
Lee has developed contacts and relationships with people without disabilities who are not paid carers. His circle of friends have widened, to involvement in the lives of the people he works with; not only during lunchtimes or breaks, but during non-work hours in their homes at family gatherings and BBQ’s.
“Everyone gets on with Lee so well, they think of him as their mate and all of the kids think he is great. It makes me really proud that Lee being around them has made them more aware and understanding of people with disabilities. Getting him that job was the best thing I could have done for Lee”
Outreach Support Worker, Jodeen
Our commitment to flexibility and a commited and dedicated staff team, has ensured that Lee’s person centred planning has been effective in providing a service that fits round him rather than fits into what is available.
Thank you to Jo and to Lee for sharing in this great success story.
