Amber Support’s epic week ended with our annual Community Games Event.  We are so proud to demonstrate that the spirit of Paralympic legacy lives on by celebrating with our sports club Amber Active; who delivered a motivating and enjoyable day of events showcasing the progress those who attend regularly had made.

Amber Active brings people together and encourages people of all ages to try out new sports in a fun and relaxed environment.  All who are involved encourage people to become more active on a regular basis as our Community Games event is not just for one day!

The event started with an introduction and welcome by Neal, one of the Team’s Captains and was followed by the Opening Ceremony which began with a well rehearsed fitness routine.  A variety of organised games took place including New Age Kurling, Hurdles, Relay, Egg and Spoon and Rowing.

The rowing was supported by British Rowing, who came along offering competing rowing machines linked to a screen – at the end of the event it was announced that in total we had rowed to Ireland and half way back across the Irish Sea!  We were sponsored for 10.4 miles and actually achieved 18.2 miles raising a total of £176.00 for Amber Community Enterprise.

In between we had refreshments with a sporting theme provided by Green Ape and their pedal powered smoothie bike!  This fun activity required us to choose from a variety of healthy fruit which was popped into a mixer and then turned into a smoothie by jumping on the bike and pedalling!

This all ended with an Awards Ceremony where each participant received a medal and certificate recognising their contribution and improvement throughout the year.

We would like to thank all those who supported this event and Gary, Rob and their team who made the event a great success.  Particular thanks also go to Green Ape and Maddie from British Rowing.  If you would like to join us or find out more about the varied activities on offer please call Gary on 07500 090 098.
